Reading: Matariki Stars W7

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! This week for reading we were focusing on Matariki. We read a news article and were pointing out the text events and features. For our create task we were to either make a 8 point paper star or a digital star on google drawing, Next we would add 8 text events and features on each of the star points. In the middle of the star we would write why we think Matariki should be a public holiday. I chose to do a paper star for my create task, the video was quite complicated but I got there in the end. Here is a photo of it: *I will list the text events below the photo because its hard to see them*
1. Different iwi celebrate at different times
2. Should we swap Matariki holiday for a different one
3. Celebrating it when the stars are not visible
4. What it means to people growing up
5. Encouraging other cultures
6. Respecting the culture when we celebrate
7. What it means to celebrate
8. Confusion when to celebrate
Why I think Matariki should be a public holiday: I think Matariki should be a holiday because it's the coming of the Maori new year and it gives a chance for people to know more about it.

Question: How many stars are there in Matariki? Can you name them all?

Maths Top Team Challenge

Hi Guys and welcome back to my blog! This week for maths we were focusing on: Area, Perimeter, Volume, metric units and Conversion. Every day this week we were focusing on each one. On Friday we were to create a Top Team team building challenge for the Top Team People. Using the maths we were focusing on we had to come up with ideas and include the measurements too. Me and Kate worked as buddy's for the team building challenge. Here is our idea with the explanation and measurements on the sides:

Our idea was called 4 way tug of war, The game starts of by having a big rope shaped like the picture on the google drawing. 4-6 people are tugging on the ropes out the side of the square. Each person on the end of the rope is trying to touch the cones nearest to them. Whoever touches the cone first wins the game.

Thanks for reading my blog, Have an awesome weekend!

Question: Have your ever played 4 way tug of war? If you have how did you enjoy it?
